..seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent

Ying/Yang is a concept of dualism, describing how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate with one another.

A good example of this principle of natural and complementary forces would be the management of non-compliance. When tests are missed or the tests are inadequate, this can lead to a lack of coverage and, ultimately, issues being released live; however, reporting this and resolving the issues may alienate the UAT resource. With Original’s solution comes the ability to electronically sign all test efforts and results; it becomes easy to see who has done what and when, thus allowing both management and the tester to easily work out when things are missing. With the rest of the solution capabilities mentioned, in a short time, the users will see that they would save time by using the tools on offer and therefore, non-compliance will be drastically reduced. Learning the lessons necessary from non-compliance is the positive side of this dualism and will lead to greater and more productive efforts moving forward.

When the key users are brought in to help test new systems, this allows far greater buy-in to the new way of doing things. Upon release, users will need to be trained and shown how to get the best out of the system. Whilst this is seen as an overhead, it can be turned to a positive by utilizing the correct people in each department to learn the new system when testing. One output of the UAT solution is a full set of training materials that can easily be used by all team members. This, coupled with the simple feedback mechanism, will allow users to feel they are part of the build. Training requirements and time are minimized using the existing training data.  As more user ideas are incorporated into the application, the processes should become easier and streamlined, thus helping overall productivity.
